How to Dry Citrus Fruit

Dried orange slices are easy to make yourself with a dehydrator—and they smell amazing. Compared to store-bought versions, homemade slices are fresher, more vibrant, and cost-effective.

Here’s how to do it:

• Cut citrus fruits into 5–7 mm thick slices.
• Dry at 55–60 °C for 5–9 hours.*
• Check several times during drying to avoid over-browning. In very sweet varieties, natural sugars may begin to caramelize.

*Drying time depends on the type, ripeness, moisture content, and thickness of the fruit, as well as room temperature and humidity. For best results, start with a shorter time and monitor closely toward the end.
